Ask any number of people what is good luck and you may get as many ideas as the number of people you ask. Whether they be ordinary people or successful persons or famous, all have their own ideas of what good luck is. Many of them may have some idea of what it takes to get or receive good luck, if indeed they have thought of their own situation, and how some of their good luck came to them.

Here are three tips and a few quotes from famous people on good luck, what you can do to get good luck and other ideas about luck, whether it be good or bad.

Tip 1: Pay Attention to any Lucky Hunches
Lucky people often make worthwhile decisions they’ve gotten from listening to their intuition and gut feelings. We all have them. Some of us actually take action from them while many of us just ignore them. Your gut feelings can be important. They may give clues you can take advantage of that may lead to good luck coming your way. By following your intuition you may actually boost your intuitive abilities.

“Each misfortune you encounter will carry in it the seed of tomorrow’s good luck.”

Og Mandino

“Luck is when opportunity knocks and you answer.”

Author Unknown

“Better an ounce of luck than a pound of gold.”

Yiddish Proverb

“I think luck is the sense to recognize an opportunity and the ability to take advantage of it… The man who can smile at his breaks and grab his chances gets on.”

Samuel Goldwyn

Tip 2: Make the Best use of Chance Opportunities

Many people we consider lucky are good at noticing when they experience chance opportunities. They try to make the best use of such fortunate opportunities whenever they can. This can be done in various ways. By networking, being open to new friends and experiences, and keeping an open mind to others ideas and expanding your own horizons you become more open to “luck” coming your way.

“Many an opportunity is lost because a man is out looking for four-leaf clovers.”

Author unknown

“To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.”

Bruce Lee

“A man likes to feel he’s in control of his life, but it is a damned illusion. The ‘X’ factor is always there. You can have all the talent in the world, but without luck you go nowhere”.

Kirk Douglas

“Change yourself, and your luck will change.”

Portuguese Proverb

Tip 3: Expect Good Luck to come Your Way

People who expect good luck to happen to them feel certain the future will bring them good fortune. Often these expectations become self-fulfilling. It’s amazing that your beliefs can actually shape your future. Many mystics and philosophers have said this over the centuries, but few of us pay attention to such writings and talk. Yet it may make good sense to believe you will have good fortune coming your way. In the negative sense, bad vibes, and maybe bad luck, can come from concentrating on bad or unfortunate situations you may encounter if you concentrate on them

“I never knew an early-rising, hard-working, prudent man, careful of his earnings, and strictly honest who complained of bad luck.”

Henry Ward Beacher

“One-half of life is luck; the other half is discipline – and that’s the important half, for without discipline you wouldn’t know what to do with luck.”

Carl Zuckmeyer

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

Seneca

“All of us have bad luck and good luck. The man who persists through the bad luck – who keeps right on going – is the man who is there when the good luck comes – and is ready to receive it.”

Robert Collier

“Bad luck for one man is good luck for another.”

African Proverb

Give yourself a chance to have luck happen. Think positively about having good luck happen in your life. If or when you happen to have bad luck, and all of us do at times, don’t let it sway you from your belief of having good luck. Try to take advantage of chance opportunities that happen in your life. Be on the lookout for intuitive feelings you may have and don’t be afraid to follow up on some of them. They just might be the forewarnings of good luck you’ll receive, if only you took action, or didn’t ignore such feelings.

It is possible to get good luck, no matter how unlucky you feel. Change your feelings, if necessary, and embrace the luck heading your way and prepare to enjoy life as a lucky person.
