Look good, be confident, be clean, and don’t seem desperate. It’s just a job like any other and you’re good enough to do it and have the attitude that if they don’t hire you it’s their loss.

Daniel asks…

Has anyone gone to the interview process for the marriage visa? What questions do they ask? Any Good Luck Tips?

Luvli Mystii answers:

You want to demonstrate it is a valid marriage. When my wife was interviewed about me, I had put a photo at the bottom of the stack, with me climbing in the top of a tree. The interviewer asked what I was doing in the photo, which opened up for my wife to say I was retrieving the soccer ball the kids kicked up there (showing I was involved in their lives, and risking life and limb for them).

My wife says that immediately after that the interviewer became much more casual with her…

One interview type you don´t want is called a ¨Stokes¨, where they separate the couple to interview them separately, meaning they have doubts about the marriage…

Mary asks…

I’ve been looking for a job for 2months now without any luck. Any good advice or good luck tips?

I worked in a semiconductor fab for 7years then have to give it up to follow my husband to US. I wonder whether the origin of my education and foreign work experience is a minus. Or whether the unemployed duration for almost a year is minus too cause I just got my permanent resident status. I feel so depressed and restless without any job.
Few recruiters called but after that no news at all…. so sad…

Luvli Mystii answers:

You have marketable skills, you say you’re from out of the country, so do you speak another language? Put it on your resume! Look in markets where being bilingual will be a major bonus, like places such as New York, Seattle, or Dallas. Find jobs that say they’re willing to train, even though you know your career field this will show you’re willing to work your way up. Post your resume on www.monster.com and other like sites, and put in your cover letter that you have your residence status and wanted to wait to get that before starting a new job so that you never had to worry about being forced to leave a company. Show a desire to be loyal. You’ll be fine! Keep it up, I know you’ll find a great job soon!
