The study of the characteristics of astrology and practice of astrology can determine the character and life of a person based on the planetary motion and its influence on the person’s life.

Although most cultural systems of astrology share common roots in ancient philosophies that influenced each other, many astrological systems have unique methodologies which differ from those developed in the west. The most significant are Hindu astrology (also known as “Indian astrology” and in modern times referred to as “Vedic astrology“) and Chinese astrology. Both have yielded great influence upon the world’s cultural history.

Astrology’s modern representation in western popular media is often reduced to sun sign astrology, which considers only basic relationships of planets to the zodiac sign of the Sun at an individual’s date of birth. The full analysis of the birth chart, as performed by an astrological practitioner, involves much more detailed consideration than this.

A horoscope was made in keeping the character and life of a person in mind. A diagrammatic chart was created showing the characteristics of astrology with twelve zodiac signs based on the aspects of the planets and the particular date and time of the birth of the person.

Each zodiac sign was created and named by using the particular constellation based on the specific area.

Each zodiac sign is related to an element that showed how the nature worked. The classic elements that are related to the zodiac signs are the air, water, earth, and fire.

 

The elements related to the zodiac:

Air: This element is related to logic, idealism, cooperativeness, and communication. Fire is more compatible with the air element.

Water: This earthly element is related to emotions, sensitiveness, and the growth. Earth is more compatible with the water element.

Earth: This element is related to patience and practicality. Water is the more compatible with the earth element.

Fire: This element is related to energetic, force, and passion. Air is more compatible with the fire element.

Each zodiac sign is interrelated with modalities like the cardinal, fixed, and the mutable.

 

The modality of the twelve zodiac signs:

Cardinal: The zodiac signs like Libra, Capricorn, Cancer, and Aries have cardinal qualities that are considered as initiatives.

Fixed: The zodiac signs like Scorpio, Leo, Taurus, and Aquarius have fixed qualities that are related to idealistic, individuality, determination and persistence.

Mutable: The zodiac signs like Sagittarius, Gemini, Pisces, and Virgo have mutable qualities that are related to devotion, easily adjustable, and better understanding.

 

The twelve zodiac signs and their characteristics:

Aries: This sign’s zodiac quality is cardinal and element is fire. People born under this sign are considered energetic and impulsive.

Taurus: This sign’s zodiac quality is fixed and the element is earth. People born under this sign are considered introvert, patient, and much devoted person.

Gemini: The zodiac quality is mutable and the element is air. Person born under this sign are logical, communicate more and are impertinent.

Cancer: The zodiac quality is cardinal and the element is water. Person born under this sign are very emotional and sensitive. They are also very caring.

Leo: The zodiac quality for this sign is fixed and the element is fire. People who belong to this sign are quite kind and generous.

Virgo: The zodiac quality for this sign is mutable and the element is earth. Virgos are very particular about cleanliness. They are efficient and loyal.

Libra: The zodiac quality is cardinal and the element is air. People born under Libra sign are cooperative.

Scorpio: The zodiac quality is fixed and the element is water. As this sign is associated with water element the Scorpio people are emotional and sensitive.

Sagittarius: The zodiac quality is mutable and the element is fire. Sagittarians are idealistic and apprehensive.

Capricorn: The zodiac quality is cardinal and the element is earth. Capricorn people are quite cautious and suspicious.

Aquarius: The zodiac quality is fixed and the element is air. Aquarians are very serious by nature. They are logical and idealistic.

Pisces: The zodiac quality is mutable and the element is water. Pisces people are considered sensitive and distracted.

 

Is Astrology Scientific?

No; contemporary science considers astrology a pseudoscience. Criticisms include that astrology is conjectural, supplies no hypotheses, proves difficult to falsify, and describes natural events in terms of scientifically untestable supernatural causes.

It has also been suggested that much of the continued faith in astrology could be psychologically explained as a matter of cognitive bias. Some say that the practice of western astrologers allows them to avoid making verifiable predictions. As practiced in the West it gives astrologers the ability to attach significance to arbitrary and unrelated events in a way that suits their purpose, even though science also provides methodologies to separate verifiable phenomena from arbitrary predictions in research experiments.
